But the hardest thing I ever did wasn't in uniform. It was the war after — the one nobody warned you about. The silence. The 3 a.m. ceiling. The friends who stopped answering the phone.
That war doesn't care if you're a Green Beret, a firefighter, a nurse, a teacher, or a kid who just lost their dad. It comes for all of us. And I learned — the hard way — that the only way through it is together.
